The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Compartmental Examination conducted by the Assam State School Education Board commenced across the state on Friday, with more than 64,000 students appearing for the examination.
According to Board Secretary Naranarayan Nath, a total of 64,050 candidates have registered for the compartmental examination this year.
The examination is being conducted at 116 centres spread across different districts of Assam and will continue until June 5.
To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, district administrations in various parts of the state have imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) around examination centres.
Officials said the restrictions are intended to maintain law and order, prevent disturbances, and ensure a conducive environment for students appearing for the examination.
The HSLC compartmental examination provides an opportunity for students who were unable to clear one or more subjects in the regular board examinations to improve their results and continue their academic pursuits without losing an academic year.
Education authorities have made necessary arrangements at all centres to ensure the examinations are conducted smoothly and in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
