Two young actors were injured in a late-night road accident in Guwahati on Monday after their vehicle collided with a dump truck in the Beharbari area, police said.
The accident occurred around 10:30 pm under the Beharbari flyover when a dump truck (AS-01NC-4712) rammed into a wagon (AS-01EH-3089) carrying the two performers. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, leaving both occupants injured.
The injured have been identified as Tony Deuri Basumatary and Johnny Deuri, who are known locally for their work as kung fu artists. They were reportedly returning home from Meghalaya at the time of the incident.
Following the collision, both were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Beharbari, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition has not been officially disclosed, but sources indicated that timely medical attention helped stabilise them.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, including possible factors such as overspeeding or negligence. The vehicles involved have been taken into custody as part of the probe.
The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety in the city, especially on busy stretches like the Beharbari flyover, where traffic congestion and high-speed movement often increase the risk of accidents.
