A fresh allegation of police misconduct has surfaced in Guwahati after a young businessman accused a police officer of physically assaulting him during a late-night incident in the Panjabari area.
The complainant, identified as Aman Hazarika, has lodged a formal complaint at Satgaon Police Station, seeking action against the personnel involved.

According to the complaint, the incident took place at around 2 a.m. on May 29 in front of Mid Night Cafe at Nabajyoti Nagar, Panjabari. Aman Hazarika stated that he was speaking with the owner’s son outside the business establishment after closing operations for the day when a police vehicle arrived at the location.
In his complaint, Hazarika alleged that four police personnel, including a female officer, got down from the vehicle and began taking photographs. When he questioned the reason for taking the photographs, he claimed that a police officer identified as Jayant Rajkhowa allegedly assaulted him without provocation.
The complainant further alleged that he sustained injuries to various parts of his body during the incident. He also claimed that the officer threatened him with serious consequences if he disclosed the matter to others.
Hazarika stated in the complaint that he believed the officer was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The complainant has urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action against the officer concerned.
Sources said CCTV cameras installed in the area reportedly captured the incident, and the footage may form part of the investigation.
Police authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the allegations. The claims made in the complaint are currently allegations and remain subject to verification through the investigation process.
