Jammu and Kashmir Police has issued a detailed traffic and travel advisory ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, which is scheduled to be held from July 3 to August 28. The advisory has been issued to facilitate the smooth movement of pilgrims while ensuring minimal disruption to regular traffic during the pilgrimage period.

Authorities have urged pilgrims, tourists and daily commuters to strictly follow the prescribed traffic regulations and travel guidelines for a safe and hassle-free journey. As part of the arrangements, special restrictions have been imposed on the movement of civilian vehicles through the Navyug Tunnel to accommodate the passage of Amarnath Yatra convoys.

According to the advisory, vehicles travelling from Kashmir towards Jammu will not be allowed to cross the Navyug Tunnel before 11:30 AM during the Yatra period. Similarly, vehicles travelling from Jammu towards Kashmir will not be permitted to enter the tunnel after 3:00 PM each day. These restrictions will remain in force throughout the duration of the pilgrimage to ensure uninterrupted movement of convoy vehicles carrying pilgrims.

The police have also announced cut-off timings at several important locations across the Kashmir Valley. Vehicles departing from Mir Bazar towards Srinagar and Anantnag will be required to cross designated points before 4:00 PM. Similarly, vehicles heading towards the Navyug Tunnel must complete their transit before 5:00 PM.

Officials said the traffic regulations have been designed to maintain road safety and prevent congestion along the routes used by thousands of pilgrims participating in the annual pilgrimage. The administration is coordinating with multiple agencies to manage traffic flow, security arrangements and emergency response systems during the Yatra.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of the country's most significant religious pilgrimages and attracts devotees from across India every year. With large numbers of pilgrims expected to visit Jammu and Kashmir during the two-month period, authorities have emphasised the importance of adhering to the advisory and planning travel schedules accordingly.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has appealed to all road users to cooperate with officials and follow the notified timings to ensure the successful conduct of the pilgrimage and the smooth movement of both pilgrims and civilian traffic during the Yatra season.
