Three people, including a father and his young son, lost their lives after a dead shal tree collapsed onto vehicles on the Muduki-Rajapara road near Chandubi.

According to reports, Kartik Rava, 30, and his eight-year-old son Bhrigumani Rava, residents of Shalser village in the Barduar Bagan area, were travelling on a scooter when the tree suddenly fell on them. The impact proved fatal, and both died in the incident.

Another victim, identified as 20-year-old Arun Kumar, a resident of Gutipathar near Chandubi under Palashbari Police Station, also lost his life in the accident. Details regarding the vehicle he was travelling in were not immediately available.

The tragic incident occurred during the evening hours when the victims were passing through the stretch of road connecting Muduki and Rajapara in the Chandubi area. Eyewitnesses said the dead shal tree collapsed without warning, leaving the victims with little opportunity to escape.

Following the incident, local residents expressed concern over the condition of trees along the route and raised questions regarding road safety measures in the area. They alleged that several trees along the Mirza-Chandubi road have been affected during road-widening activities carried out by the Public Works Department and the Forest Department.

Residents have demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and sought compensation for the families of the deceased. They also urged the authorities to conduct a survey of roadside trees and remove those that pose a threat to commuters, particularly during the monsoon season.
