Meanwhile, Manas National Park welcomed more than 63,000 visitors, including nearly 4,900 international tourists. The UNESCO World Heritage Site continues to attract nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers with its diverse ecosystem and conservation achievements.
Similarly, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary received over 35,000 visitors, including 676 foreign tourists. Known for its high density of one-horned rhinoceroses and unique wetland ecosystem, Pobitora remains a key attraction for wildlife tourism in the state.
Under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government has intensified efforts to promote eco-tourism, improve tourism infrastructure, and showcase Assam’s natural treasures to a wider audience.
Tourism officials attribute the rise in visitor numbers to improved connectivity, enhanced visitor facilities, conservation initiatives, and sustained promotional campaigns highlighting Assam’s unique wildlife and cultural heritage.
The increasing influx of domestic and international tourists is also contributing significantly to local economies by generating employment opportunities and supporting businesses associated with tourism and hospitality.
With destinations such as Kaziranga, Manas, and Pobitora continuing to attract visitors from across the world, Assam is steadily strengthening its reputation as one of India’s leading wildlife and eco-tourism destinations.
