The national-level contest, organised by the Swami Vivekananda Foundation of Art and Culture, was held on May 16 and 17 and witnessed participation from aspiring musicians from across the country. The results were announced recently, with Abhilasha achieving the rare distinction of winning awards in all four categories she competed in.
A Class XI student of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara, Abhilasha is the daughter of journalist Arup Chakraborty and Barnali Chakraborty. She has been pursuing music from an early age while balancing her academic commitments.
Family members and mentors credit her success to years of disciplined training, dedication to regular practice, and a strong foundation in classical music. Her focus on sur, taal, and laya has helped her excel on larger competitive platforms.
Abhilasha has also benefited from guidance provided by mentors associated with the Ustad Rashid Khan Academy, which has played a key role in shaping her musical journey.
Congratulating the young artist, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised her achievement and wished her success in her future musical pursuits.
The accomplishment has been widely welcomed by the cultural community in Assam, with many describing it as another proud moment for the state’s emerging artistic talent on the national stage.
