Chief of Army Staff Upendra Dwivedi has stated that India remains fully prepared for a possible “Operation Sindoor 2.0,” asserting that the military posture adopted after the Pahalgam terror attack continues to remain in force.

General Dwivedi said that Operation Sindoor has not concluded and described the current situation as a “temporary cessation of hostilities” rather than a permanent end to military preparedness.

“The Indian Army and all three services are preparing well for Operation Sindoor 2.0, if it takes place. Presently, we are looking at enhancing our synergy within the three services and equipping ourselves for the next generation of warfare round the clock,” he said.

Without directly naming Pakistan, the Army Chief indicated that India remains vigilant against potential threats and that the armed forces are maintaining a high state of operational readiness. He emphasized that the Army, Air Force, and Navy are working closely together to strengthen joint capabilities and improve preparedness for future challenges.

General Dwivedi highlighted the changing nature of modern warfare, noting that technological advancements have made battlefields increasingly transparent.

“The battlefield is so transparent that every movement is known to the other side. Therefore, we have to be very cautious in terms of our deployment, employment and the protection required for our troops as well as civilians in border areas,” he remarked.

The Army Chief also underscored the growing importance of information warfare, stating that public trust and national unity are critical factors in any conflict scenario.

“Information warfare is successful only when the entire nation comes together and trusts the information being shared. A nation that remains united and trusts its institutions will always have an advantage,” he said.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India in May 2025 following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, in which 26 people were killed after terrorists opened fire on civilians in the Baisaran Valley. The operation was described as a strong military response to cross-border terrorism and security threats.

General Dwivedi’s remarks come amid continued focus on strengthening India’s defence capabilities, modernising military infrastructure, and enhancing coordination among the three armed services to address evolving security challenges.
