Following taking home the bronze in Tokyo, Lovlina's 2022 wasn't the finest; she struggled to make an impression at the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships. But she put on a strong performance at the nationals, and in November of last year, she won a gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship. To earn her second gold medal at the Worlds, Nikhat Zareen (48–50 kg) had earlier defeated Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam. Gold medals were also won on Saturday by Nitu Ghanghas (45-48 kg) and Saweety Boora (75-81 kg), who each defeated their respective opponents in the finals.
