Heavy rainfall over the past two days has triggered flash floods and landslides across parts of Arunachal Pradesh, causing widespread damage to infrastructure and disrupting normal life in several areas.

Among the worst-affected locations is the NEEPCO residential colony at Yazali, where floodwaters inundated the settlement after a stream overflowed following continuous rainfall. The flooding also impacted nearby areas, including Possa village, Pitapool and other localities in Keyi Panyor district.

According to local sources, intense rainfall caused streams and drainage channels to swell beyond capacity, sending water rushing through residential areas. The sudden flooding damaged homes, roads and other public infrastructure, forcing residents to deal with rapidly rising water levels.

Authorities said the continuous downpour also triggered landslides and soil erosion at multiple locations, affecting transportation links and disrupting connectivity in the affected areas. Several roads reportedly suffered damage, making movement difficult for residents and emergency responders.

Yazali, located between Itanagar and Ziro, experienced some of the most severe impacts as floodwaters swept through parts of the NEEPCO colony. Residents reported extensive damage to property and essential infrastructure following the sudden inundation.

The heavy rainfall has affected multiple districts across the state, with local administrations monitoring the situation closely. Officials are assessing the extent of the damage while undertaking relief and restoration measures in the affected areas.

Rescue and relief efforts have been initiated as authorities work to assist affected families and restore disrupted services. Teams have also been deployed to evaluate road conditions and address landslide-prone stretches impacted by the adverse weather.
