Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tripura on September 22 to unveil the redeveloped Tripureswari temple, one of India’s 51 revered Shakti Peeths. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced the visit during the Neermahal Jal Utsav in Sepahijala district on Sunday.
The temple transformation was executed under the Centre’s PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme at a cost of ₹51 crore, part of a nationwide effort to enhance major pilgrimage destinations.
PM to Offer Puja at Sacred Site
“PM Modi has graciously accepted our invitation and will offer puja at the temple after inaugurating the redeveloped complex on September 22,” CM Saha said, underscoring the spiritual and political significance of the occasion.
Upgraded Facilities for Pilgrims
The renovated complex features improved infrastructure, aesthetic enhancements, and modern amenities while retaining the temple’s sacred character. These upgrades are designed to accommodate growing pilgrim numbers and elevate the visitor experience at one of the Northeast’s most important religious sites.
Boost for Religious Tourism
The redevelopment is expected to significantly strengthen Tripura’s position as a spiritual tourism destination. The Prime Minister’s visit signals the Centre’s continued focus on developing the Northeast’s cultural heritage and positioning the region as a key pilgrimage circuit.
For Tripura, the inauguration represents both recognition of its religious significance and fresh momentum for the state’s tourism aspirations.
