A case of misbehaviour with a 6-year-old girl has come to light from a school in the Lunglei district of Mizoram. The Mizoram Police have said that they have arrested a school teacher for allegedly sending a 6-year-old girl home by taking off her dress.
Along with this, the police said that this case pertains to a government primary school in Thangpui village of Lunglei district. The accused teacher has been identified as Lalbiakenghi, against whom the Child Protection Unit has complained.
The state’s school education department has issued a show cause notice to the teacher. At the same time, the state’s top student body ‘Mizo Zirlai Pawl’ has demanded the dismissal of the accused teacher. According to the police, the incident occurred on August 25, and the accused teacher was arrested on Saturday, August 28.
The girl’s mother said that her child studies in the first class in the school, with whom a boy was assaulted on August 22. Due to this, her daughter complained of vomiting blood and abdominal pain. After this, the girl looked forward to school, wearing a dress for the first time. So she went to school the next day too, and the same boy beat her again, so I scolded the boy. After this, the school teacher called me and reprimanded me, saying that I had violated the school’s rules to go to school and scold the boy, about which I complained to the school teacher in the school’s WhatsApp group.
The girl’s mother told me that I was disappointed and angry, so I went to school with my brother to pick up the girl, where the teacher intervened and said that if I took my child home, I would have to leave her uniform there because another student who needs it. After this, the teacher took off my daughter’s dress in front of everyone and sent her home.
Lalnunmawia Pautu, president of Mizoram’s student body ‘Mizo Zirlai Pawl’, said he would meet the education minister and state education director H. Lalthalangliana and apply for the sacking of the accused teacher.
