Avantika Das from Assam has brought laurels to the state and the country by winning two silver medals at the Oceania International Invitational Wushu Kung-Fu Championships 2026 held in Brisbane, Australia.
The championship was organised from May 21 to May 25 and witnessed participation from athletes representing several countries, making it a highly competitive international sporting event.
Avantika, a resident of Birubari in Guwahati and a Class XII student of SBOA Public School, represented India at the tournament and delivered an impressive performance in the martial arts competition.
She secured silver medals in the Traditional Nanquan Type event and the Traditional Single Weapon category, showcasing remarkable skill and determination at the international level.
Her achievement has been widely appreciated by the sporting community and has added another milestone to Assam’s growing presence in international sports and martial arts competitions.
Following her return to Guwahati, the young athlete received a warm reception at the airport from sports enthusiasts, family members, and representatives of various organisations who gathered to congratulate her on the achievement.
Avantika’s success has also brought recognition to SBOA Public School and highlighted the growing participation of young athletes from Assam in global sporting events.
The achievement is being viewed as another proud moment for Assam, reflecting the rising talent and dedication of the state’s sportspersons on international platforms.
