Rakibul Hussain, deputy leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Assam, said that he would continue to oppose the "anti-people policies" of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Former state minister Hussain is currently on Hajj. He told that the news of him leaving Congress was completely baseless. Asked about reports of him resigning from all party posts, he said, "This is wrong news, and I am still with the party. I left for Umrah Hajj on 16th May. I spoke extensively to the press on this issue the same day." Hussain said he would address a press conference at Assam House on Friday at 11 am after reaching home. He said, "I don't know why such rumours were created. When ULFA threatened us to leave the Congress, we did not leave the party and stood with the people."
