Contingents from the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army and the Indian Navy participated in the National Day celebrations of Seychelles, highlighting the close defence cooperation and longstanding friendship between the two countries.

The Indian military contingents took part in the ceremonial parade held as part of Seychelles' National Day celebrations, reflecting the strong bilateral ties and shared commitment to regional security in the Indian Ocean.

The participation of the Assam Regiment and the Indian Navy served as another symbol of the enduring partnership between India and Seychelles, which have maintained close cooperation in defence, maritime security, capacity building and development over the years.

India and Seychelles share a robust strategic relationship, with regular exchanges, joint exercises and defence cooperation forming key pillars of bilateral engagement. The presence of Indian armed forces during the National Day celebrations further reaffirmed the mutual trust and friendship between the two nations.

The event coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Seychelles, where he attended the National Day celebrations as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie. The visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across defence, maritime security, trade and development.
