A major examination fraud racket was uncovered in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district during the NEET-UG re-test, leading to the arrest of 24 individuals, including medical students, nursing students and employees associated with a biometric services company. Police officials said the network was allegedly involved in arranging trained “solvers” to appear in the examination on behalf of genuine candidates.

The action came as lakhs of candidates across the country appeared for the NEET-UG re-test. According to investigators, suspicious activities were detected at several examination centres, prompting authorities to closely monitor the network. Preliminary findings suggest that the accused attempted to influence the examination process through fake identities and alleged internal assistance.

During the investigation, the name of medical student Arpit Raj emerged as a key figure in the alleged racket. Police believe he was among the prominent members of the network. Several other individuals, including a student from Patna Medical College and a number of medical and nursing students, have also been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the case.

Investigators suspect that the group had devised a well-planned strategy to facilitate impersonation at examination centres by placing trained candidates in place of actual applicants. Authorities are examining the extent of the network’s operations and its possible links to other individuals involved in the examination process.

The case came to light after a person was reportedly found entering an examination centre while posing as an employee of a biometric company. Following the discovery, police conducted raids at multiple examination centres and detained several candidates and other suspects. The investigation further revealed that some students allegedly remained absent from their educational institutions during the examination period and may have participated in the operation.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the security and transparency of competitive examinations. Bihar Police has intensified efforts to identify other members of the network and determine the full extent of the alleged manipulation. Officials said a detailed investigation is underway and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

The development has reignited discussions on the integrity of entrance examinations, with experts stressing the need for stronger security mechanisms and stricter monitoring to prevent such incidents in the future.
