Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Assam's Dhemaji district to assess the impact of the ongoing floods.

The two Union Ministers were accompanied by Assam Rural Development Minister Atul Bora during the survey.

The delegation reviewed the extent of flood damage across the district and assessed the progress of relief and rehabilitation measures being carried out by the state administration.

During the visit, the ministers took stock of the challenges faced by flood-affected communities and were briefed by officials on the ongoing rescue operations, relief distribution and rehabilitation initiatives.

The aerial assessment comes as the Assam government continues to intensify relief efforts in Dhemaji, one of the worst-affected districts in the state, where thousands of people have been impacted by flooding caused by heavy rainfall and rising river levels.

The Centre and the Assam government have reiterated their commitment to providing all necessary assistance to affected families and ensuring speedy restoration of normalcy in the flood-hit areas.
