Marwari Hospitals celebrated its 110th anniversary in Guwahati on Friday, an event highlighting its critical legacy in healthcare in Assam. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the ceremony, where he commended the hospital's profound contribution to the state's medical infrastructure. Sarma affirmed that the facility remains a key pillar, actively driving the development of the Assam medical sector.
During the celebration, CM Sarma congratulated the institution on achieving 110 years of service. He emphasized the hospital’s transformation—its evolution from a basic charitable dispensary into a sophisticated multi-speciality healthcare center. Sarma highlighted that the hospital consistently provides essential, high-quality medical care to residents across the state.
The Chief Minister further addressed the region's health future. He expressed strong confidence that Assam is rapidly establishing itself as a premier healthcare hub for the Northeast. He asserted that established institutions like Marwari Hospitals are instrumental in reinforcing the state’s overall health ecosystem.
Health Minister Ashok Singhal underscored the hospital’s substantial role. He particularly cited the vital medical support provided by the facility during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. The Minister praised the hospital's ongoing dedication to accessible medical care, noting its capacity to expand advanced services while upholding a charitable mandate.
Marwari Hospital President Sarat Kumar Jain welcomed guests and reviewed the institution’s entire journey since 1916. He credited the sustained efforts of donors, physicians, and staff whose commitment established it as a regional leader. Today, the hospital operates advanced units, including a Cath Lab and high-resolution MRI, serving over 1.5 lakh patients annually through multiple campuses.
