Indian boxers delivered an impressive performance at the Usti nad Labem Grand Prix 2026 in Czechia, securing a total of 12 medals, including eight gold, three silver and one bronze, to underline their preparations for a busy international season ahead.
The strong showing comes ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next month and the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya later this year. The tournament provided India’s leading boxers with valuable exposure against international opponents and served as an important platform to assess their readiness for the major events on the calendar.
Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain, reigning Asian champion Preeti Pawar and Jadumani Singh Mandengbam were among the standout performers as India enjoyed a successful campaign at the 56th edition of the prestigious tournament. All 12 Indian medallists are part of the country's Commonwealth Games boxing squad, while 10 of them have also secured places in the Asian Games contingent.
India’s women boxers led the medal charge, winning four gold medals and one silver from five entries. Lovlina Borgohain claimed the gold medal in the 75kg category after defeating Italy’s Melissa Gemini by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the final. Preeti Pawar also secured a dominant 5-0 victory over France’s Jeyssa Marcel in the 54kg final.
Sakshi Chaudhary emerged victorious in the 51kg category after overcoming France’s Mayssoun Bourega, while Priya Ghanghas won the 60kg title with a comprehensive victory over Czechia’s Barbora Maxova. Parveen Hooda added to India’s tally by securing a silver medal in the 65kg division.
The men’s team matched the women’s achievement by winning four gold medals. Jadumani Singh Mandengbam claimed the 55kg title after defeating England’s Abdul Burton 4-1 in the final. Sachin Siwach and Ankush produced dominant performances to secure 5-0 victories over Hungary’s Veres Rohland and Czechia’s Florian Daniel in the 60kg and 80kg categories, respectively.
In the heavyweight division, Narender Berwal edged past Armenia’s Davit Chaloyan in a closely contested 3-2 final to secure the gold medal in the 90+kg category.
India’s silver medal winners included Aditya Pratap Yadav in the 65kg category and Kapil Pokhariya in the 90kg division, both of whom finished runners-up after narrow defeats in their respective finals. Sumit Kundu added a bronze medal in the 70kg category to complete India’s tally.
The performance in Czechia provides a significant boost to the Indian boxing contingent as it prepares for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, with several leading boxers showcasing strong form on the international stage.
