Guwahati police have registered a case against five 17-year-old students from Manipur for the alleged gang rape of a 21-year-old woman from Tripura during a party at a rented house in the city on September 13.

The woman realized what had happened the following morning and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Pani Khaity police outpost on September 16. Police subsequently booked the five under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act, since all the accused are minors.

According to investigators, two of the suspects have been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, while the other three are being questioned. The survivor has undergone medical examination and recorded her statement with police.
