Assam is set to present its rich cultural heritage on the global stage as preparations gather pace for the proposed visit of the Prime Minister of Japan to the state. In a significant initiative, the route from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to Dharapur will be transformed into a vibrant cultural corridor showcasing the essence of Assam’s civilization, traditions and artistic legacy.

Sharing details of the initiative, Assam Cultural Affairs and Act East Affairs Minister Bimal Bora said that Assam’s timeless cultural treasures, once celebrated primarily within the state, are now drawing increasing attention from across the world. He noted that the upcoming visit offers a unique opportunity to introduce global dignitaries to the state's rich cultural diversity and heritage.

According to the minister, a four-kilometre-long cultural corridor is being created along the airport route, where various elements of Assam’s traditional art, music, dance and cultural practices will be showcased. The initiative aims to transform the journey into an immersive cultural experience that reflects the identity and heritage of Assam.

Bora stated that every performance, artistic display and cultural expression along the corridor will narrate the story of Assam to visiting dignitaries and international guests. The presentation is designed to highlight the state’s unique traditions while demonstrating the diversity that forms the foundation of Assamese society.

The cultural corridor is expected to feature a blend of traditional music, folk performances and artistic expressions representing different communities of Assam. Through this initiative, the state government seeks to offer visitors a glimpse into Assam’s rich cultural landscape and centuries-old traditions.

The preparations are part of broader arrangements being undertaken ahead of the high-profile visit. The event is also being viewed as an opportunity to strengthen Assam’s international profile and showcase its cultural assets before a global audience.
