Football fans in Assam are set to enjoy the FIFA World Cup 2026 in a unique way, with the state government announcing dedicated CM FIFA Fan Parks in Guwahati and Dibrugarh to broadcast every match live on giant screens.
Announcing the initiative on Sunday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the fan parks, being organised by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), aim to provide football enthusiasts with a vibrant, stadium-like atmosphere where they can come together to watch and celebrate the world's biggest football tournament.
The first CM FIFA Fan Park will open at Latasil Playground in Guwahati on June 29, while the second venue will be inaugurated at Chowkidingee Field in Dibrugarh on June 30. Both locations will screen all FIFA World Cup 2026 matches live, allowing hundreds of supporters to enjoy the tournament in a shared community setting.
Inviting football lovers from across Assam and neighbouring states, the Chief Minister said the initiative would make the World Cup experience more memorable by bringing fans together to cheer for their favourite teams while celebrating the spirit of the game.
The fan parks are expected to create a festive atmosphere throughout the tournament and further strengthen Assam's reputation as one of India's emerging football destinations.
Over the years, Guwahati has hosted several prestigious football events, including international matches, the Indian Super League (ISL) and the FIFA U-17 World Cup, reflecting the state's deep-rooted passion for the sport.
With the launch of the CM FIFA Fan Park initiative, Guwahati and Dibrugarh are expected to emerge as major hubs for football enthusiasts during the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup 2026, offering supporters an immersive viewing experience throughout the tournament.
