Early on Sunday, April 16, a prisoner housed in Assam’s Udalguri jail managed to escape from his cell.
According to sources, the inmate known as Shyamal has been incarcerated for life in connection with a murder case since 2011.
An FIR has been filed by jail officials at Udalguri Sadar police headquarters, and a manhunt has been launched to find the culprit. Police have blocked off the area while conducting a thorough search for Shyamal.
