The collapse has severely disrupted connectivity in the region, with authorities assessing the damage and working to restore access to affected areas.

NFR Suspends Train Services
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has suspended train services between Archipathar and Simen Chapari after severe riverbank erosion destabilised a railway bridge.

Railway Bridge Damaged
NFR said heavy rainfall washed away a large section of the riverbank, making one of the bridge piers unstable. The bridge, originally built in 1965, has been declared unsafe for train operations until restoration work is completed.

Bus services have been introduced between Murkongselek and Silapathar to assist stranded passengers. Help desks have also been opened at Dhemaji, Silapathar and Murkongselek railway stations.
