The Sahitya Akademi Award 2022 has been awarded to prominent writer Manoj Kumar Goswami. Literary critic and senior journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami received the award for his collection of short stories “Bhul Satya.”
Goswami’s literary career began with short story collections, including Iswarhinata and Premhinata. His novel, Anadi Aru Annyana, is very popular in the state.
In 1994, Goswami was recognised with the prestigious Katha Award for Creative Fiction, and in 1996 he won the Sanskriti Award for Literature. Goswami’s popular short story, ‘The Vulture’, was included in ‘Our Favourite Indian Stories ’ by the great writer, late Khushwant Singh.
Goswami began his journalistic career in the 1990s with the newspaper Natun Dainik. He later worked for several newspapers along with electronic media. His journalistic career continues today.
In 1962, Manoj Kumar Goswami was born in Nagaon. He holds a Master’s degree in Physics. Legendary writer Ruskin Bond recently launched Goswami’s English collection of short stories, Muppet and Other Stories.
The Sahitya Akademi Translation Awards have also been announced. The award was presented to Dr Jury Dutta, a professor and translator at Tezpur University.
The Sahitya Akademi Award recipients will get Rs 1 lakh each, along with a copper plaque. The Sahitya Akademi Translation Awards winners will get Rs 50,000 each and a copper plaque. The awards will be presented at a special function next year.
