The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council will not declare the Higher Secondary (HS) Examination 2026 results on April 17, putting an end to widespread speculation among students. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu clarified the situation through a social media post, stating that reports of results being released on Friday were incorrect.
In a post shared late on April 16, the minister said, “HS Exam results will not be declared tomorrow. This is a rumour,” while tagging Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The clarification comes amid growing rumours circulating on social media and among student groups regarding the result date. Officials have not yet announced the official schedule for the declaration of results.
This year, the Assam HS examinations were conducted between February 11 and March 16, 2026. In the previous academic session, the results were declared on April 30 at 9 am, with over 3 lakh students appearing for the examinations.
In 2025, the Arts stream recorded the highest number of candidates, followed by Science, Commerce, and Vocational streams. The pass percentages stood at 81.03 per cent for Arts, 84.88 per cent for Science, and 82.18 per cent for Commerce, while the Vocational stream recorded a pass percentage of 68.55 per cent.
Students are advised to rely on official announcements from AHSEC for updates regarding the HS Result 2026 and avoid misinformation circulating online.
