Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrated his 56th birthday today. On this special occasion, a huge crowd of supporters and well-wishers gathered at his official residence in Dispur, the capital, since Friday night. After 12 o’clock in the night, the Chief Minister accepted the wishes of the people present and celebrated his birthday by cutting the cake in the presence of family and supporters.

Message of the Chief Minister on the eve of his birthday

On the eve of his birthday, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma expressed his thoughts through Facebook Live. He stated, “February 1 is my birthday, and every year, I start this day in a very simple manner. I begin my day by lighting a lamp in the temple at my home, offering prayers to the Almighty, and seeking the blessings of the people of Assam. This year too, I have lit a lamp and sought the blessings of the Almighty and all of you. I seek the blessings of the people so that I may have the strength to continue working for society and the welfare of the people.”

Interaction with journalists

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will spend his birthday amidst a busy schedule. After cutting the cake at the official residence in Dispur on Friday night, he also interacted with the journalists and informed about Saturday’s programs.

OPD service launched at Pragjyotishpur Medical College

On the occasion of his birthday, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the Out Patient Department (OPD) service at Pragjyotishpur Medical College, established as the second medical college of Guwahati. This will be the 14th medical college in the state, which will have a facility of 450 beds and will admit 100 MBBS students every year. It will also have hostels and other modern facilities.

Inauguration of Jagi-Bhakatgaon bridge

On Saturday, the Chief Minister will inaugurate a concrete bridge at Jagi-Bhakatgaon located on the road connecting Jagiroad-Morigaon. Due to the lack of a bridge, the people of Morigaon were facing problems for a long time.

Will spend time with the children of sanitation workers

In the evening, the Chief Minister will spend time with the children of sanitation workers of Guwahati. These children are associated with culture and performed Satriya culture in a cultural program organized in Guwahati last December. At that time the Chief Minister had promised to meet them, to fulfill which he chose the day of his birthday.

On the birthday of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Piyush Goyal, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Biplab Kumar Deb wished him through Twitter.

Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s ‘Three Days of Cleanliness’ program

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has decided to celebrate the Chief Minister’s birthday as a three-day festival. According to corporation mayor Mrigen Sarnia, a campaign called ‘Three Days of Cleanliness’ is being run in Guwahati from January 30 to February 1 to mark the chief minister’s birthday.
