Lovlina Borgohain, an Assamese Olympian, earned the gold medal for India at the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championship in New Delhi.

In the 75kg division at the women’s world boxing championship, Lovlina Borgohain of Assam won the gold medal.

With a split 5-2 score, Lovlina defeated Caitlin Parker of Australia in her final match.

After settling for bronze in the 2018 and 2019 competitions, this is Lovlina Borgohain’s first gold.

Following taking home the bronze in Tokyo, Lovlina’s 2022 wasn’t the finest; she struggled to make an impression at the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships.

But she put on a strong performance at the nationals, and in November of last year, she won a gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship.

To earn her second gold medal at the Worlds, Nikhat Zareen (48–50 kg) had earlier defeated Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam.

Gold medals were also won on Saturday by Nitu Ghanghas (45-48 kg) and Saweety Boora (75-81 kg), who each defeated their respective opponents in the finals.
