When he flipped the coin with Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson on Wednesday night at Chepauk, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni was participating in his 200th game as the team’s leader. Dhoni has now played in 200 IPL games, making him the first captain to accomplish this feat. The 41-year-old received congratulations from CSK owner N Srinivasan to commemorate this momentous achievement. With a wide grin on his face, Dhoni accepted a souvenir from Srinivasan prior to the toss. With the title “Salute the King and Whistle for His 200th as Thala,” CSK posted pictures from the felicitation ceremony.
When Dhoni won the toss versus RR, he chose to bowl first. Dhoni thanked the supporters for their support throughout this long journey as he spoke about playing in 200 matches as the captain of CSK, a remarkable accomplishment in the IPL or any other form of cricket. Dhoni stated, “During the toss, it feels terrific, and I think the atmosphere has been wonderful. Also, it was quite hot and muggy because we began in the old stadium. Now, though, it appears that we are playing in Switzerland. Playing is beneficial. The way T20 was played back then and now has evolved significantly, as we have witnessed. It’s been a great turnout.”
