In a testament to his impressive performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, young Riyan Parag has received high praise from veteran Australian spinner Brad Hogg. Hogg has commended Parag’s growth in maturity and the flamboyant batter’s impact on the Rajasthan Royals’ unbeaten campaign.
Parag, who has been a part of the Royals franchise since 2019, has finally showcased his true batting prowess this season. The 22-year-old has scored 185 runs in just 4 matches, averaging a staggering 92.50, already surpassing his previous best IPL season of 183 runs in 17 matches in 2022.

Hogg noted that the team management’s decision to elevate Parag’s role, batting him at the crucial number 4 spot, has worked well for the young all-rounder. “I am really liking when I am seeing young (Riyan) Parag. He is the youngest player to hit a fifty in the history of IPL. I love his energy and I love the way he fields. I think he has really matured this year,” Hogg said.
The former Aussie spinner also pointed out that while Parag still has an inherent sense of confidence or “ego,” he has been able to control it better this season, focusing more on contributing to the team’s success rather than just securing his own place in the side.
Hogg’s praise for Parag is not limited to the young batter’s individual performances. The veteran also highlighted the Rajasthan Royals as the “best-balanced team in the tournament,” expressing his confidence in the franchise’s ability to further strengthen their lineup when Sandeep Sharma returns from injury.
“According to me, Rajasthan Royals are the best-balanced team in the tournament. I like the way how they have set their entire lineup. If Sandeep Sharma can get fully fit as well, then he can add up as the sixth bowling option for them,” Hogg said.
