Assam’s remarkable performance at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 reached new heights with Aisangfa Gogoi securing gold in the women’s below 55kg weightlifting category.

Gogoi’s commanding performance in the weightlifting arena adds to Assam’s medal surge across multiple sporting disciplines.

Her victory is particularly notable as it brings balance to the state’s medal distribution between male and female athletes, showcasing Assam’s commitment to developing sporting talent across genders.

With this latest gold medal, Assam continues to demonstrate strength in diverse sporting categories beyond its traditional strongholds, reflecting the effectiveness of the state’s comprehensive sports development initiatives.

Expanded Medal Count

Aisangfa Gogoi’s gold medal victory brings Assam’s total medal tally at the Khelo India Youth Games to an impressive nine medals: six gold, one silver, and two bronze.

The state’s updated medal breakdown now stands at:

Balanced Performance Across Sports

Assam’s medal distribution now spans five different sporting disciplines—swimming, table tennis, sepaktakraw, and weightlifting (both men’s and women’s categories)—highlighting the state’s all-round sporting development.

The addition of weightlifting gold in the women’s category complements Dharmajyoti Dewgharia’s earlier bronze in the men’s division of the same weight class, demonstrating Assam’s emerging strength in this power-based sport across genders.

Assam’s expanding medal count and diversified success across multiple disciplines indicate substantial progress in the state’s sports infrastructure and training methodology. The growing medal tally at national-level competitions suggests that Assam’s talent pool is deepening across various sporting categories.

As the Khelo India Youth Games continue, Assam’s athletes remain in contention for additional medals in the remaining events, with hopes of surpassing their best-ever performance at the games and potentially climbing higher in the overall medal standings.
