In this regard, the school authority will be at liberty to introduce the English medium without abolishing Assamese or another vernacular medium.
It is also stated that five to ten schools in each district shall be identified for introducing dual medium, and the number of such schools shall be increased gradually depending on the outcome of the move.
From the academic year 2023, Mathematics and Science will be taught in English from class III in all Govt & Provincialised Assamese and other vernacular medium schools. Accordingly, the books will also be in English. This decision has also been taken in the cabinet meeting.
