The Ambubachi Mela ended today at the Shaktipeeth Kamakhya Temple. The doors of the temple opened at 5.45 am. Thousands of devotees have flocked to the Kamakhya Temple to take blessings from Maa Kamakhya.
Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and his wife arrived at the Kamakhya Temple this morning. The Governor visited the Shaktipeeth and took blessings. After opening the doors of the Kamakhya temple, many devotees came to the Shaktipeeth to seek the blessings of the goddess.
Many devotees from home and abroad flock to the Nilachal Hills during the Ambubachi festival every year. However, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma urged devotees not to flock to the Ambubachi Mela due to rains and landslides this year.
The landslide occurred on the road leading to Kamakhya. Many devotees and saints from abroad visit Kamakhyadham on the occasion of Ambubachi Mela.
