IPL Franchise Owners Goes Global  – Buys all six team in South Africa T20 League

As IPL is going bigger and bigger each year, it’s franchises also started to left their footprint globally. This time the news came from Cricket South Africa. Six of IPL franchises wins bid for upcoming South Africa T20 League.

According to the reports, Cricket South Africa is refurbishing the South Africa T20 league in partnership with television broadcaster SuperSport.  IPL franchisees namely, Mumbai Indian’s, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrises Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals have successfully bid for the franchises.

The Bid Winners are –

Mumbai Indian’s – Cape Town

Chennai Super Kings – Johannesburg

Delhi Capitals – Centurion

Lucknow Super Giants – Durban

Sunrises Hyderabad – Port Elizabeth

Rajasthan Royals – Paarl

As per the reports, Chennai Super Kings made the highest bid at the auction and buy Johannesburg franchise. On the other hand Mumbai Indian’s baked by Reliance Industries won the bid for Cape Town franchise and Sun TV Group, which owns Sunrises Hyderabad win the bid for Port Elizabeth franchise.

CSA (Cricket South Africa) is expected to make a formal announcement of the new owners and the cities they will represent once the paperwork is complete. Graeme Smith announced as overall head of South Africa T20 League.

South Africa T20 league will start from early 2023. Cricket South Africa’s Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki said – This new league promises to make a significant investment into both professional cricket and development in South Africa, along with a positive socio-economic and tourism injection into the country. “
