On Wednesday, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, called Nitish Kumar, his counterpart from Bihar, a “margdarshak (guide)” for politicians who want to “change their party every six months.” He called the Janata Dal (United) supremo “unpredictable.”

Nitish Kumar recently switched sides with the BJP and formed a new government in Bihar under the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (Grand Alliance) umbrella, in alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and other parties.

Reacting to that, Assam CM Sarma said, “How can you guarantee that Nitish Kumar will not leave this coalition after 6-8 months. He’s unpredictable.” “We have also changed political party, but we have not changed like him. He is ‘Margdarshak’ for everybody who wants to change party every six months,” he added.

Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar chief minister for a record eighth time in a no-frills ceremony at Raj Bhavan. RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav was him during the oath-taking who is likely to be designated as his deputy.
Once the three main alliance partners – the JD(U), RJD and Congress – finalize the number of berths and the legislators who will be made ministers, they will be sworn in.
