In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking in Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro Police have arrested four individuals and seized substantial quantities of suspected heroin in two separate operations conducted under Operation Dawn 2.0. The successful crackdown, led by Lower Subansiri district SP Keni Bagra, demonstrates the police department’s intensified efforts to combat narcotics trafficking in the region.

The operation led to the detention of two suspects identified as Takhe Tabyo and Hage Puyang. During a thorough search of their apartment, police recovered 11 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing 14.9 grams, along with 49 empty plastic vials and 12 used syringes. The suspects were immediately arrested following proper legal procedures.
During interrogation, the arrested individuals revealed they had purchased the narcotics from one Yumlam Maynig, alias Anisha, from Itanagar, who was scheduled to arrive in Ziro the following day with additional supplies. This information enabled police to set up a strategic operation, leading to Anisha’s apprehension at Kardo check gate on Sunday. She was found in possession of 22 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing 29.6 grams.
In a separate operation conducted the same day during routine Inner Line Permit checking at Kardo check gate, police arrested Kabak Yana, who had been under long-term surveillance as a suspected drug peddler. A search revealed she was carrying 5 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing 6.7 grams.
The total seizure from both operations amounts to approximately 51.2 grams of suspected heroin. Two separate cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is ongoing to identify additional links in the supply chain.
Meanwhile, in a related development, East Siang Police arrested another drug peddler near Ruksin Petrol Pump in Pasighat. The suspect, identified as Usman Ali (Ahmed) from the Sawmill area of Pasighat, was found with 7.63 grams of suspected heroin.
