Judicial magistrate Sankari Das, while delivering a historic verdict on the matter, said that ‘such an offense should be punishable with death and the same punishment has been given to the guilty.

On February 22 last year, an innocent child was kidnapped from the Duski area of Teliamura in the Khowai district after the incident was reported to the police by the family members. After about 6 days, the body of the innocent was recovered from the forest. When the post-mortem of the dead body was done, it was found that there were many wounds on the girl’s body, which showed the cruelty of this predator. The Tripura Police suspected Kalicharan and arrested him. This accused at first denied his crime, but when the police interrogated him with sufficient evidence, he confessed to his crime.

Kalicharan had told the police that he raped the innocent girl and then killed her. Later, the body was left tied to a tree in a nearby forest. Subsequently, the police registered a case against Kalicharan Tripura under sections 376 (A), (B), 302, 301 of the IPC, and section 6 of the POCSO Act.

On March 25 2021, the police filed a charge sheet for the hearing of the case. SI Bindeshwari Sinha investigated the matter to the bottom.
