Three Active Cadres of Banned Militant Groups Arrested in Manipur

Security forces conduct coordinated operations across Imphal East and West, seizing incriminating items and detaining active cadres linked to RPF/PLA, KCP-Noyon, and PREPAK-PRO.

In a major crackdown on insurgent activities, security forces arrested three active cadres of proscribed militant outfits in separate operations conducted across Imphal East and West districts of Manipur on Monday.

In Imphal West, an active member of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) was apprehended from Lamdeng Awang Leikai under Lamsang Police Station. According to officials, the individual was involved in extortion activities targeting elected representatives, including Pradhans and Members, as well as private and government educational institutions. Security personnel recovered two mobile phones and a yellow Vespa scooter from his possession during the operation.

Simultaneously, in Imphal East, security forces arrested a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Noyon/MFL) from Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen under Lamlai Police Station. Authorities have launched further investigations to determine his specific role and involvement within the banned organisation.

In a third operation carried out in Heirangoithong near the Fish Arcade Shop under Singjamei Police Station, Imphal West, a cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-PRO) was apprehended. A mobile phone, a wallet containing Rs. 80, and a voter ID card were seized from him.

Security forces have intensified counter-insurgency measures in the region, aiming to dismantle militant networks and maintain peace and stability in the state.
