The Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), has attracted investment interest worth ₹4.48 lakh crore, marking a significant milestone in efforts to catalyze trade, industry, and employment across the ecologically sensitive North Eastern Region (NER).
The investment commitments, which emerged from the Summit and its pre-event roadshows, include a combination of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), letters of intent, and qualified leads from a wide spectrum of private investors, public sector undertakings, and major industrial groups.
According to a written reply in the Lok Sabha by Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for MDoNER, State Governments are actively engaging with investors to ensure timely grounding and implementation of these proposals.
Among the sectors generating the highest investor interest were Energy and Agri-Food Processing & Allied Industries, reflecting the region’s rich resource base and growing industrial potential.
To support this momentum, the Government of India is implementing the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization (UNNATI) Scheme, designed to strengthen the region’s industrial ecosystem. The scheme provides a suite of incentives, including:
Capital Investment Incentive
Central Capital Interest Subvention Incentive
Manufacturing & Services Linked Incentive
In addition, State Governments are complementing these efforts by offering single-window clearance mechanisms, establishing investment promotion agencies, creating land banks, and providing additional investment-linked incentives.
The government is also placing a strong emphasis on sustainable development, encouraging investors to adopt low-carbon technologies and green industry practices to preserve the region’s ecological balance. Projects categorized as environmentally sustainable or having minimal adverse impact on local ecosystems are being given priority.
MDoNER continues to play a coordinating role, working closely with States and other stakeholders to ensure smooth facilitation and realization of investment proposals.
The Summit underscores the Centre’s long-term vision to integrate the North East more closely with India’s industrial growth story while safeguarding its unique environmental and cultural heritage.
