“Durand Cup” is India’s most prestigious and historic Football tournament that is being played from 16th August, 2022 to September 18, 2022. For the first time “Durand Cup” is being held in more than one venue namely Guwahati( Assam), Kolkata (West Bengal), and Imphal (Manipur).
The tournament will see 10 matches in the Manipur leg. The Government of Manipur to provide Internet Broadband Bandwidth through modern optical fibre technology for live broadcasting of matches in Imphal between 18thAug to 5th September, 2022 by RailTel, a Mini Ratna CPSU of Ministry of Railways. Additionally, RailTel is also providing broadband internet connectivity in the event offices, venue control room,for security CCTV cameras and the Media Center during the event along with live broadcasting of matches.

This is the first edition after recognition by Asian Football Confederation and 131st edition of the Durand Cup, the historic football tournament in Asia. 20 teams comprising of eleven teams from Indian Super League (ISL), five teams from I-League teams, and four teams from the Indian Armed Forces will be playing for the prestigious title.
In the entire north east of India, Football being one of the most popular sports. But for the first time, Manipur will host football matches of high magnitude and stature. It will also attract audiences and fans from the neighboring states of Nagaland and Mizoram. The Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal will host 10 matches with its 35,000+ capacity utlilized to the full.
Among the participating teams of the tournament, there are two local teams from Manipur, NEROCA and TRAU.
