Northeast’s Richest Chief Ministers and their Total Assets

According to poll affidavits examined by the Association for Democratic Reforms, five of the top ten richest chief ministers in India hail from the northeastern states, with Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh being the richest of them all.

On April 13, the Association for Democratic Reform released a survey based on poll affidavits, and it was found that all current chief ministers from eight northeastern states have total assets above Rs 1 crore.

With a total asset value of 163 crore, Arunachal Pradesh’s Pema Khandu tops the list. Following him, Neiphiu Rio from Nagaland sits in the second position, holding total assets of over 46 crores. Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, comes in third with total assets above Rs. 17 crore. Following him, the Meghalaya Chief Minister stands in the fourth position with total assets of approximately Rs. 15 crore. Manik Saha from Tripura has total assets of around 13 crore. Prem Singh Tamang from Sikkim and Zoramthanga from Mizoram both have total assets of more than 3 crore as per their election affidavits. Manipur’s chief minister, N Biren Singh, comes last in this list with a total asset allocation of over Rs 1 crore.

It is worth mentioning that Jagan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has the highest assets, valued at 510 crores, and Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal holds 15 crores in assets.
