NC Debbarma: Tripura Revenue Minister and IPFT supremo NC Debbarma Passes Away

Tripura Revenue Minister NC Debbarma breathed his last on Sunday, the first day of the new year. He was 87 years old at the time of his death. Leaders of various political parties in Tripura expressed deep grief over his death. All political parties have sent condolences.

He has been sick for the last few days. NC Debbarma suffered a brain stroke. He was brought to Agartala’s Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital for treatment on Friday. According to hospital sources, his condition was severe because of intracranial hematoma.

After NC Debbarma was admitted to the hospital, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha visited him. The Chief Minister of Tripura expressed deep grief after receiving the news of NC Debbarma’s death on this day. “Deeply saddened by the demise of our senior cabinet member NC Debbarma. Condolences to his family,” he wrote on social media. 

NC Debbarma was the president of the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT). He is the former Director of All India Radio, Agartala.

IPFT formed an alliance with BJP in Tripura in the 2018 elections. NC Debbarma’s party won 8 out of 9 seats in that election. 

NC Debbarma was the oldest minister of Tripura. He has been suffering from various diseases related to old age for the last few years. He took oath as the revenue minister after Manik Saha became the chief minister last year. However, he repeatedly needs to recite the oath. He was involved in several accidents last year.

IPFT was formed in 1990. But it disappeared after a few days. Later, in 2009, this group woke up in a new way. However, now there is a crisis of existence again. 

Several party MLAs and leaders have joined Pradyot Manikya’s party Tipramotha and other parties. Congress MLA Sudeep Roy Barman said that the death of NC Devavarma is an irreparable loss to the politics of Tripura. He was a very honorable and benevolent leader.
