On March 5 at around 6:40 p.m., Mizoram Armed Police Havildar Bimolkanti Chakma fatally shot two of his fellow officers in a horrific case of fratricide. According to sources, the accused was highly inebriated at the time of the occurrence. The two deceased officers, Havildar Indra Kumar and Havildar J. Lalrohlua, were all members of the 2nd Batallion Mizoram Armed Police and were stationed in the Buarchep Region of the Assam-Mizoram Border on the Mizoram side at the time of their deaths. While the other havildar, Indra Kumar, of the Lawngtlai District, passed away while they were travelling to the nearest Mizoram hospital, Havildar J. Lalrohlua of the Lunglei District passed away immediately. Soon after, Havildar Bimolkanti Chakma, the gunman, was captured and sent to Aizawl for additional research.
