Tension gripped the city on Thursday evening after unidentified miscreants set ablaze a government vehicle parked within the premises of the Water Resources department office in Shillong.
According to police officials, the Bolero vehicle bearing registration number ML 01 A 0175 was completely gutted in the incident that took place around 7 pm on Thursday. Initial investigations suggest that the miscreants may have lobbed a petrol bomb from outside the office premises, resulting in the vehicle catching fire.
“We have registered a case in connection with this incident and initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in this act of arson,” stated a senior police official.
Investigations are underway, and authorities have assured that no stone will be left unturned in apprehending those responsible for this brazen act of arson.
