Massive landslide in Manipur: 6 killed and at least 20 missing in Manipur

A landslide occurred in Noney district of Manipur on June 29 amid heavy rains. The landslide occurred at the position of the 107th Territorial Army Company of the Indian Army near Tupul railway station in Noney district. According to the reports, 6 people were killed, and more than 20 are missing.

The incident took place at Tupul yard railway construction camp on Wednesday night.

The Indian Army and Assam Rifles are conducting rescue operations with full force. As of 5.30 am on Thursday, 13 people were rescued from the landslide. The injured are being treated at the Noney Army Medical Unit.

The landslide has blocked the flow of the Ijai River. Landslides and bad weather have hampered rescue efforts. However, efforts are continuing to rescue the missing. The weather is awaiting clearing, and army helicopters will conduct rescue operations.

On this tragic incident, Home Minister Amit Shah wrote – Spoke to CM Shri
@NBirenSingh and Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw in the wake of a landslide near the Tupul railway station in Manipur. Rescue operations are in full swing. A team of NDRF has already reached the spot and joined the rescue operations. Two more teams are on their way to Tupul.

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh called an emergency meeting to assess the landslide situation. He wrote on Twitter that the search and rescue operation is already underway. Ambulances along with doctors have been dispatched to assist in the operation.
