Manik Saha, a dentist-turned-politician who drove the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to come to power in Tripura for a consecutive term, is all set to become the Chief Minister of the northeast state for the second time. Prior to becoming the Chief Minister, Saha was a Rajya Sabha MP and chairman of the party in the state. In the midst of a competitive race in the northeast state’s assembly elections, Saha seized Biplab Kumar Deb’s place as party leader last year.

Saha, a dentist, left the Congress in 2016 and subsequently joined the BJP. He became the party’s leader in 2020, and in March 2022, he won a seat in the Rajya Sabha. Manik Saha will take the oath as Tripura’s Chief Minister for a second time on Wednesday following the BJP’s victory in the state’s most recent Assembly elections.

On Tuesday, Amit Shah and Nadda came to Agartala. Manik Saha welcomed them at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. On Monday, Chief Minister-designate Manik Saha urged Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya to declare his intention to lead the Northeast state’s administration. A general assembly of all newly elected BJP MLAs was held earlier on Monday, when Manik Saha’s name was unanimously proposed as the party’s head.

My heartfelt thanks for your wishes.

Under the guidance of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, we shall continue to work together for all-round development of Tripura. https://t.co/bwjgCNowxS

“My heartfelt appreciation to everyone for choosing me to lead the parliamentary party. We would collaborate to create “Unnata Tripura, Shrestha Tripura,” and secure the welfare of all people under the direction of PM Narendra Modi ji.” After the meeting, Saha tweeted. In the Raj Bhavan in Agartala on Friday, Manik Saha gave Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya his letter of resignation.
