Hornbill Festival 2022 – The colorful celebration begins at the 23rd Hornbill Festival, 2022

At Naga Heritage Village Kisama in Nagaland, the 23rd Hornbill Festival 2022 begins as per schedule from 1st December to 10th December 2022. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar graced the inaugural function of the festival as the Chief Guest.

Nagaland welcomes visitors from around the world from almost more than 20 years now at Hornbill Festival. The Hornbill Festival gives a complete view of all the Naga tribes, their rich culture, and their distinctiveness with their different form of art, culture, music, and dance.

The Hornbill Festival is also known as the ‘Festival of Festivals.’ The Government of Nagaland organizes the festival to promote Nagaland’s cultural heritage and encourage inter-tribal interaction.

More than 130 stalls are set up in Kisama this year, in the Hornbill festival, wherein the Micro takes up 100 stalls, Small & Medium Enterprises, and 32 are temporary stalls.

Various cultural events are organized daily in the festival, including activities like photo fest, fashion shows, music festivals, adventure sports, and night carnivals.

The Hornbill festival is named after a bird. Hornbill is an Indian bird species known as the concave-casqued hornbill.

Among the hornbill family in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, it is among the more prominent members. The bird is an essential part of the Naga tribal culture and is known for its size and color. The bird Hornbill is a cultural icon of the Naga people and is part of the folklore.
