While taking action in the militancy-affected area of Manipur, the security forces have seized banned medicines worth about 1300 crores. It is believed that the funds received from the sale of these banned medicines were to be given to extremist groups.
Defense spokesman Lt. Col. Mahendra Rawat has said that this action of the security forces has worked to break the back of the insurgency groups.
Lt. Col. Mahendra Rawat has said that the cadres of banned groups are also being motivated to surrender by our security forces.

Colonel Rawat said that the security forces and the Manipur state government have stepped up their efforts to ensure lasting peace. In fact this is the beginning of the endgame for all the banned groups in Manipur, which are active in a big way in Manipur.
Along with this, efforts are being made to bring the surrendered cadres into the mainstream.
The success of the operations of security forces in Manipur can be gauged from the fact that action has been taken against about 370 people in the last 2 years. Apart from this, the security forces have surrendered 90 cadres.
Along with this, security forces have taken action against more than 100 cadres in areas dominated by PLA. Now with the recovery of banned medicines worth Rs 1300 crore, the funds received by the militants have been stopped.
Earlier on April 8, a cadre of ULFA (I) surrendered before the Assam Rifles and Tinsukia Police.
