Later in the year 2013, the United Nations General Assembly held a meeting of the 68th General Assembly and, during this, unanimously announced the celebration of World Soil Day.
A resolution was also passed to celebrate Soil Day. At the same time, for the first time when the demand for Soil Day was raised, the same day was fixed for this particular day, i.e. on December 5, to celebrate Soil Day. A year later, on December 5 2014, World Soil Day was celebrated worldwide for the first time.
Soil Day has a theme every year. The theme for World Soil Day 2022 is ‘Soil, where food begins. This theme shows Soil as an important means of providing food to humans and animals. At the same time, the theme of 2021 was ‘Halt soil salinization, boost soil productivity,’ i.e. Stop soil salinization, boost soil productivity.
