World Soil Day is celebrated on December 5 is celebrated every year all over the world. International organizations that function under the United Nations celebrate Soil Day.

The relationship between India and the Soil reflects a different kind of sentiment. The Indian belief in the ground is related to patriotism. At the same time, the Soil is also connected to mother earth. But for the world, Soil is an essential natural resource for life, the attack on which badly affects everyone’s life.

This is why World Soil Day is celebrated yearly to create awareness about soil conservation and its sustainable management. Its purpose is to tell people about soil erosion. Soil pollution is a severe environmental problem, In which the soil condition deteriorates.

Soil is an advanced resource for humans and all kinds of living beings. But due to negligence of environmental standards for industries and mismanagement of agricultural land, the soil condition deteriorates.
The first recommendation to celebrate Soil Day was made in the year 2002. International Soil Science, for the first time, demanded to celebrate World Soil Day on December 5.

Later in the year 2013, the United Nations General Assembly held a meeting of the 68th General Assembly and, during this, unanimously announced the celebration of World Soil Day.

A resolution was also passed to celebrate Soil Day. At the same time, for the first time when the demand for Soil Day was raised, the same day was fixed for this particular day, i.e. on December 5, to celebrate Soil Day. A year later, on December 5 2014, World Soil Day was celebrated worldwide for the first time.

Soil Day has a theme every year. The theme for World Soil Day 2022 is ‘Soil, where food begins. This theme shows Soil as an important means of providing food to humans and animals. If its quality deteriorates, the whole world can be at risk. At the same time, the theme of 2021 was ‘Halt soil salinization, boost soil productivity,’ i.e. Stop soil salinization, boost soil productivity.

Soil Day It is necessary to understand the need and importance of Soil behind the demand for celebrating World Soil Day. Celebrating this day is to make people aware of soil conservation. Soil is essential for all terrestrial organisms. Soil provides minerals, food and things necessary for life. But organic matter harms the Soil, which leads to a decline in soil fertility.
