DGP Nagaland Rupin Sharma, who caught Abu Salem, to be seen in Kaun Banega Crorepati 14 

Kaun Banega Crorepati has started telecasting its 14th season. Nagaland DGP Rupin Sharma will be seen in the show. In the upcoming episodes, Rupin Sharma, who caught the terrorist Abu Salem in 2000, expresses his gratitude for serving the country and shares his experiences.

The episode’s trailer shows Rupin Sharma saying, ‘I am working as the Director General of Prison of Nagaland. In today’s era, the nature of prison has changed. Now there is a lot more. So the focus is on improvement. On this, Amitabh Bachchan says, ‘You caught a very dreaded wanted terrorist.’

Rupin Sharma added, ‘Abu Salem.. he is the culprit of the Mumbai blasts.’
Amitabh Bachchan appreciated him, saying, ‘Sir, very difficult task is to win people’s hearts, many congratulations.’

Rupin Sharma was essential in bringing Abu Salem from Portugal to India. Rupin Sharma led the CBI team and traced Abu Salem to his location in Portugal. Along with Abu Salem, Monica Bedi was also brought to India.

Who is Abu Salem ?

Abu Salem Abdul Qayoom Ansari also known as Aqil Ahmed Azmi and Abu Samaan, is an Indian criminal gangster and terrorist who hails from Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, Central India.

Abu Salem worked in the D-Company (Dawood Ibrahim gang) as a driver transporting artillery and contraband. Later he rose among the ranks after he introduced a new strategy of hiring unemployed youths from his hometown Azamgarh to come to Mumbai, execute shoot-outs and return to the next day remaining untraced by the Mumbai police. He is currently serving life sentence in India.
